I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's note, dated April 21, 1880, in reply to the note which I had the honour to address to you on the 9th of December 1879, acquainting you with the decision adopted by Her Majesty's Government regarding the difficulties which have prevented the conclusion of an Extradition Convention between Portugal and Great Britain.
With reference to the proposals of the two Crowns at Macau, I have to state that Her Majesty's Government are prepared to empower the Governor of Hong Kong in Council to surrender persons accused or found guilty of the crimes enumerated in the Schedule to the Extradition Act, conformably to the legislation in force in the respective territories.
In reply to Your Excellency's note, I have to inform you that Her Majesty's Government have taken note of the difficulties which have prevented the conclusion of an Extradition Convention between Portugal and Great Britain.
